About Utilities Commission, City of New Smyrna Beach


The Utilities Commission, City of New Smyrna Beach, (UCNSB) provides electric, water, wastewater, reuse water and internet service in the greater New Smyrna Beach area. We have approximately 24,700 electric customers, 23,716 water customers, 19,040 wastewater customers, 839 reuse water customers, and 1,000 internet customers.

The Utilities Commission is funded solely through utility revenues and is not a taxing authority. The FY 2010 budget is $60 million. There are approximately 170 full-time and contract employees directed by a General Manager/CEO, Robert J. Rodi, who is selected under contract by the Utilities Commission.

The Utilities Commission is a non-taxing, political subdivision of the State of Florida created by Special Legislative Act, Public Law 67-1754, and as amended by Public Law 85-503.
