It wouldn't be an understatement to say the UC has had a big presence in the Sugar Mill community during the past year and a half. The UC spent about $1 million on replacing and upgrading the aging underground electric system in the Sugar Mill development, and we’ll be spending another $1 million on a nearby sewer structure and lift station replacement project. These projects are in aid of our commitment to; improving electric system reliability, and also proving a safe and sustainable water supply system for the customers in Sugar Mill. We realize that by their very nature, utility projects can be disruptive to areas under construction, but we don't take our job lightly when we are commissioned to provide such life essential services as electric and water resources. So we encourage our staff to work with our customers in an effort to minimize impact, and leave the job sites in as good - if not better - condition than when the project started. Our customers in the Sugar Mill community have been understanding and patient with our crews and the contractors we have engaged to assist us. We are proud to serve customers like Sugar Mill as a partner in the greater New Smyrna Beach community - that is our sole focus as a water and electric business.
