Florida has celebrated Arbor Day since 1886 and has one of the first Arbor Day celebrations in the nation, on the third Friday in January. This year that is January 15. This early date is perfect for planting trees in our area. The trees have time to start establishing themselves before the typical dry spring months of March, April and May. Did you know trees are invaluable resources for energy conservation? Planted in the right spot, they can lower your cooling bills in the summer. Go to The University of Florida's Agriculture Extension website to find out more about planting trees.
