Please be aware if you are coming to our main office building at 200 Canal: Beginning Monday, Jan. 20 through Thursday, Jan. 24, Canal Street, just east of U.S. 1, will be closed from 10 pm- 5 am. The closure is needed to prepare the roadway for a traffic shift, and for construction activities along the street.
Electronic message boards and other signage will be used to direct traffic around the closure using the following detour routes (see detour map):
- Drivers traveling west on Canal Street will turn right onto Orange Avenue, left onto Washington Street, left onto U.S. 1 and right onto Canal Street.
- Drivers traveling east on Canal Street will turn left onto U.S. 1, right onto Washington Street and right onto Riverside Drive.
Once the detour is set, the contractor will implement a new traffic pattern on Canal Street just east of U.S. 1. Beginning Tuesday, Jan. 21, the right lane will be closed; therefore, all traffic will be required to use the left lane (see traffic shift map). This will allow the contractor to safely perform construction in this area. The work is part of a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) project to improve the intersection of Canal Street and U.S. 1.
Please note construction schedules may change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Updates are available on the project web page on www.cflroads.com. For more information, please contact Amber Mullins, Community Outreach Coordinator, at 386-740-3566 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
FDOT urges all drivers to stay alert and use caution while driving through or near construction zones. When driving, walking, or bicycling, remember to pay attention and follow the rules. Safety doesn’t happen by accident.
